La paratoia, o sluice gate in inglese, è un sistema regolabile di sbarramento idraulico, in altre parole un sistema di sbarramento che, messo su un fiume o canale, è in grado di regolarne il flusso. In questo caso, è stata rappresentata una paratoia a ghigliottina, cioè una paratoia che si alza e abbassa verticalmente.  La moc rappresenta le fasi finali della costruzione, come è possibile notare da alcuni dettagli quali l'assenza di acqua, il cemento pulito, l'erba ancora poca e rada, l'assenza delle dovute protezioni e barriere.

The sluice gate is an adjustable system for hydraulic control,  in other words a system that, put on a river or a canal, controls its flow. In this case, a vertical rising sluice gate,  a gate raising and lowering vertically, had been represented. The moc represents the final stages of construction, as it is possible to notice from a few details such as the absence of water, the clean concrete, the little and sparse grass, the absence of the protections and safety barriers.
